Objective of the Game

Triolet is a strategic number tile game where players aim to score the most points by cleverly placing number tiles on the board. The main objective is to form rows of number tiles whose sums are multiples of three.

Game Components

  • Numerous number tiles with numbers from 1 to 20.
  • A game board with a grid of squares.
  • A score pad and pencils.

Setting up the Game

  1. Mix all the number tiles face down in a pile on the table.
  2. Each player draws ten tiles and keeps them hidden from other players.
  3. Place the game board in the center of the table, accessible to all.

Playing the Game

  1. Placing the Tiles:
  2. The first player places their tiles on the center of the board, aiming to place them horizontally or vertically in a way that the sum of the tiles is a multiple of three.
  3. In the first move, at least three tiles must be placed (hence the name "Triolet").

  4. Scoring:

  5. Divide the sum of the placed tiles by three. The result is the score for that round.
  6. Extra points are awarded for particularly long rows.

  7. Drawing Tiles:

  8. After each turn, the player draws as many tiles as needed to have ten tiles again.

  9. Next Player:

  10. The next player places a combination of tiles on the board as well. New tiles can be added to existing rows or start a new row. Again, the sum must be a multiple of three.

Game End

The game ends when either all tiles are used or no valid rows can be made. The player with the most points wins.

Strategic Tips

  • Try to use your tiles in a way that keeps options open for the next turn.
  • Plan ahead by thinking about which tiles you might draw and how you can integrate them into existing rows.

Triolet combines strategic planning with the luck of the draw, offering an exciting challenge for the entire family.
