Objective of the Game
In Princes of Florence, you assume the role of a Renaissance noble aiming to develop your city to attract the most prestigious artists of the era. The main goal is to achieve the highest prestige points by constructing buildings, hiring professionals, and supporting guilds. At the end of the seventh round, the player with the most prestige points wins.

Setup
- Each player receives a player board and corresponding materials: 1 landscape card, 1 building, 1 action marker.
- Landscape cards and prestige tokens are placed next to the game board.
- Each player starts with 3 bonus cards, 10 Florins, and 3 action markers.
- Round markers and starting player marker are placed.
Gameplay
The game lasts for seven rounds, each consisting of two main phases.
Phase 1: The Auction Phase
In the auction phase, favor tokens are auctioned. The sequence starts with the starting player and moves clockwise. Each item can only be purchased once per round. Auction items can be buildings, landscapes, or other development items.
Phase 2: Action Phase
In the action phase, each player has three actions to develop their city by: - Constructing Buildings: Place a building on your city plan. - Designing Landscapes: Add a landscape card to beautify your city. - Promoting Artworks: Play artist cards to create works and generate points. - Purchasing Cards: Invest in bonus cards or prestige tokens.
Strategic Tips
- Landscape vs. Buildings: Investments in landscapes can be valuable long-term as they increase artworks' worth without occupying space.
- Planning: With limited rounds, plan actions efficiently and know when to acquire certain elements.
- Watch Opponents: Consider your opponents' actions to adjust your strategy accordingly.
End of the Game
The game ends after the seventh round. Players tally their prestige points earned from building, creating works of art, and acquiring favor cards. The player with the highest prestige points wins the game.
