Objective of the Game
The objective of Can't Stop is to complete three columns by advancing your pieces to the top of each column on the game board that are numbered from 2 to 12.
Components
- A game board with numbered columns from 2 to 12.
- Four dice.
- Eleven sets of player markers, each set having a distinct color for each player.
- Three white neutral markers.
Setup
- Each player selects a set of colored markers.
- Determine the starting player by having each player roll a die. The highest roll begins.
Gameplay
The player whose turn it is rolls all four dice. They then form two pairs from these dice to obtain two sums. The sum of each pair determines the columns on the board where the player can place the white neutral markers. These markers indicate the player's progress within a column for the current turn.
Dice Pairing Options
- For every roll, players create two pairs from the numbers of the dice.
- Each pair sum allows advancement in the corresponding column on the board, provided the player has a neutral marker there or has begun to score in that column.
Turn Decision
- Continue Rolling: Players may continue rolling as much as they want. However, they risk losing their progress if they cannot use the rolled numbers.
- Stop Rolling: Deciding not to roll further allows the player to place their own colored markers where the neutral markers currently are.
Setback
If a player cannot form a valid pair that allows them to advance in any column, their turn ends, and they lose all progress made during that turn.
Capturing Columns
- When a player completely fills a column with their markers, that column is claimed and closed to other players.
Winning the Game
- The first player to completely claim three columns wins the game.
Tips and Strategies
- Risk Management: It’s tempting to keep rolling for greater progress. Balancing risk and reward is crucial; excessive risk often leads to setbacks.
- Leverage Probabilities: Numbers 5 through 9 appear most frequently, offering more opportunities for progress.
- Strategic Stopping: Sometimes stopping early to secure progress can put pressure on opponents and lead to victory.
This game of thrilling decisions depends significantly on each player's willingness to take risks!
