Objective of the Game

Spiel des Wissens is a classic quiz game, where the objective is to be the first player or team to cover all knowledge areas and reach the goal on the game board.

Game Materials

• Game board with different categories marked in different colors.
• Question cards for six knowledge categories (e.g., science, history, art, entertainment).
• Playing pieces for each player/a team.
• Dice to determine the number of spaces a piece moves.
• Scorecard or pen and paper to track progress.

Setup

1. Each player or team selects a playing piece.
2. Place the pieces on the start space.
3. Shuffle the question cards and place them in designated areas of the board.
4. Each player or team receives a scorecard.

Gameplay

The game is played in clockwise order.

1. Roll and Move: The first player rolls the dice and moves their piece the corresponding number of spaces in any direction across the game board.
2. Answer a Question: The player lands on a space matching one of the six categories. A question from the corresponding category is read. If answered correctly, the player earns a point in that category on their scorecard.
3. Next Player: The next player takes their turn.
4. Revisiting Categories: A player can visit the same category multiple times, but only one point per category can count toward collecting all categories.

Special Rules

• Special spaces: There are special spaces like "Skip a turn" or "Roll again," which allow additional actions.
• Collecting All Categories: A player must have at least one point in each category before they can reach the center of the board.

Winning the Game

The player who first covers all categories and reaches the goal space wins the game.

Strategy Tips

• Movement Planning: Plan your movements to quickly reach unvisited category spaces.
• Breadth of Knowledge: Balance covering all knowledge categories with advancing on the board. Knowledge in various areas can determine how fast you collect enough points in all categories.
