Objective of the Game
In Targi, the goal is to have the most victory points by collecting resources, acquiring tribe cards, and trade goods cards. The game ends when a player has collected twelve tribe cards, or when the robber reaches the last space on the border cards.
Game Components
- 80 goods tokens (dates, salt, pepper)
- 6 marker stones (3 for each player, in white and blue)
- 4 Targi figures (2 for each player)
- 1 robber figure
- 45 tribe cards
- 19 goods cards
- 10 border cards (round tracker, robber, Targia, merchant, and 6 oasis border cards)
Setup
- Lay out the border cards in a 5x5 grid. The inner 9 spaces remain empty initially.
- Each player receives their Targi figures in their color, a marker stone, and a starting set of resources (3 dates, 2 salt, 2 pepper, and 1 gold).
- The robber figure starts on the round tracker border card.
Gameplay
The game is played over multiple rounds structured as follows:
- Placing Figures: Players alternately place their Targi figures on the border cards, with the restriction that figures cannot face each other directly.
- Placing Markers: At the intersections of their placed Targi figures, players place marker stones to perform actions on the inner cards.
- Performing Actions: The player currently in turn performs the actions of their Targi figures first, which may involve collecting resources or buying tribe cards.
- Moving the Robber: The robber is moved one card forward. At certain spaces, players lose resources.
Types of Cards
- Goods Cards allow players to collect resources.
- Tribe Cards offer victory points and bonuses. For example, combinations of tribe cards can give additional points at the end of the game.
Strategic Tips
- Positioning: Clever positioning of the Targi figures enables players to target specific resources or cards.
- Resource Management: Balancing between collecting and spending resources ensures the sustainable growth of a strong card collection.
- Tribe Card Combinations: Pay attention to which combinations of tribe cards are needed for additional points.
End of the Game
The game ends after twelve rounds or when a player collects twelve tribe cards. The player with the most victory points wins.
