Objective of the Game

The objective of the game Jule is to win tricks by skillful collection and play of cards. Each player seeks to form the best possible card combinations to either play the highest card value or match the trump suit.

Game Materials

• A standard deck of 32 cards (from 7 to Ace in the four suits Heart, Diamond, Spade, and Club).

Number of Players

Jule can be played with 3 to 6 players. Ideally, the game is played with four players.

Setup

1. One player shuffles the deck thoroughly.
2. Each player receives an equal number of cards, depending on the total number of players.
3. One card is placed face-up on the table indicating the trump suit for this round.

Game Flow

1. Dealing the Cards

• Each player receives an equal number of cards based on the number of participants. A standard four-player game typically deals eight cards per player.

2. Determining the Trump

• The face-up card on the table determines the trump suit. Cards in this suit beat all other suits.

3. Starting the Game

• The player to the left of the dealer starts the game by playing any card from their hand.

4. Playing a Trick

• In clockwise order, the other players each play a card from their hand.
• You must follow suit if possible, meaning you must play a card of the demanded suit. If not possible, you can play a card in the trump suit or any other suit.
• The trick is won by the player who played the highest card in the demanded suit or the highest trump card.
• The winner of the trick leads the next one.

5. End of the Round

• Once all cards are played, the round ends. Points are usually awarded for winning tricks or certain card sets.
